Scattered wishes

We went to Mayfield Park last weekend for an event and of course my camera came along for the ride.  While walking around I saw these rose petals lying about on a fountain.  I was told there was a wedding there the previous day and these were thrown for the bride, hence the title.  I like the thought that each of these petals was a wish for the new couple, and of course the color was nice, but I couldn't help noticing that after a day they had a little tarnish on them.  More than anything this was a DOF exercise for me.  I want to expand my skills and my range as a photographer.  Please let me know your thoughts.  What would you do different or how would you approach this?
