The Inn and Spa at Loretto, Santa Fe

This is the main entrance to the Inn and Spa at Loretto, which is a boutique luxury hotel in Santa Fe, NM.  Among its many amenities is a great little restaurant called Luminaria.  I recommend having a leisurely breakfast there on the covered patio.  It is serene, beautiful, and of course the food is great!  The hotel is built next to the Loretto Chapel, which is well known for its "Miraculous Staircase".  The story about the staircase is that the Sisters of the Chapel needed a way to access the choir loft, but due to the small size of the chapel no one could figure out how to build stairs in the limited space. Well they prayed of course and a mysterious fellow showed up who was looking for work.  He build these ingenious stairs that have two 360 degree turns and no visible means of support.  Nails were not even used - just wooden pegs.  After it was completed, he disappeared and to this day no one has figured out who he was.   Cool stuff.
