San Fernando Cathedral

This beauty, known as San Fernando Cathedral, sits squarely in the middle of downtown San Antonio, TX - and deserves to since it was there way before anything else.  San Fernando Cathedral was founded in 1731 and is the oldest continuously functioning religious community in the State of Texas.  I was downtown there recently and since blue hour was approaching I started to get itchy, needing to have the camera out and pointed at something.  We parked and hurried over to the cathedral, and found it lit up and the fountains running - I guess someone told them I was coming!  Haha.

I got several shots from various angles and consider myself lucky, because the next morning I got up early and went back, thinking I could get a nice sunrise there too.  Nope, didn’t happen.  The lights on the cathedral were not on, so though I took some pics they lack the beauty of this one. Anyways, it is a beautiful structure and reminds me of Notre Dame in Paris a bit.  Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!
