The Little Mermaid

No, I am not off into Disney movies today - I am sharing a shot of the iconic and famous Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, Denmark.  It was inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name, which I guess in turn inspired Disney to create their own movie version of the story.  I'm guessing Disney made a bit more on their production than Hans Christian Andersen did...but I digress. 

Once I found out that I would be visiting Copenhagen, I immediately knew that this was on my must-shoot list.  It's not really a big deal - and it's not even big - but being something famous, I just wanted to see it and...well...I had my camera with me.  Why not fire off some brackets?

Incidentally, the area around it is very crowded and you have to sort of work your way into a spot up front.  It took me a few minutes, but I got it done.  Carrying my tripod and bag full of stuff probably helped, since everyone else was toting little P&S cameras, so I guess they thought I was there in some official capacity.  Sometimes it helps to look the part.  Plus, I just act like I know what I am doing.

I know my photo appears as though I have it all to myself, but not exactly...here's an unedited iPhone shot I took after I took my real shots and backed away...and that does not include all the folks sitting on the steps and benches behind me, either waiting on a turn to get up close, or just hanging out.  There were probably 75 folks hanging around.  Like I said - it was busy.  But hey, I got to check it off my list!
