Back at the tracks
Here's another shot from Germany - this is inside the hauptbahnhof (train station) in Leipzig, Germany. If you have visited here before, you probably know that European train stations are one of my addictions. They're just cool. They do a great job of combining architecture and grit. Love that stuff.
So I always make time to go shoot them, preferably early in the morning or later in the evening. This one was late one evening. My preference for all my shots is to minimize the amount of human traffic involved - in other words, I want shots with no people in them. That probably means I will never shoot weddings.
The only real way to get an empty train station is super early or super late. They are just crowded - I mean, they're train stations. They attract a lot of people. That's the deal. It also helps to step into an area you are not allowed in, which is what I did here. Though in my defense, I cannot read German. When the guy working there yelled at me, it was pretty easy to play the role of the wayward tourist (albeit, with a DSLR on a tripod - so I wasn't exactly stealthy). I got my shots, then moved on. Win.
