HDR in Lightroom: Worth It?

I’ve been making HDR photos since about 2008, and I still love to do so, even though their popularity peaked about 10 years ago. I just find that the technique is super useful in a lot of situations. I mostly make these HDRs in Luminar Neo, but I recently made some in Lightroom Classic and was pleasantly surprised with the results!

I usually look for a few things when creating an HDR:

  • Good, natural results that don’t look like an over-the-top HDR from years ago

  • Great masking tools to help me refine my blended image and craft it to my vision

  • Solid color tools that give me the ability to manage and even shift colors to get to my final result

I found all of this in Lightroom Classic, and more. It worked so well, and I hav enjoyed using it. I share all of this in the video below, and walk through a full workflow demo on this image. Hope it helps and enjoy!
