A good day in Edinburgh, Scotland
Here's a quick visual tour of lovely Edinburgh, Scotland - a beautiful city in a beautiful country. I spent a day there a while back, and grabbed a lot of photos. Take a look and enjoy!
Sunset at Hug Point
I love Oregon - there is just so much beauty there. It's almost hard to digest it all. It seems at every turn, there is something else more beautiful than what you just saw. I spent some time there recently, and one evening a beach walk turned into a full-on sunset adventure. Here are 15 photos that show you just how beautiful that evening really was!
A perfect day in Howth
If you ever find yourself in Dublin, Ireland and are looking for a quick escape from the city, consider taking a day trip out to the little fishing village of Howth. It's a short train ride away, but it feels like you went much further. Here are two dozen (!) photos from a trip I made out to Howth earlier this year. Enjoy!
Golden hour at Haystack Rock
I caught an incredible golden hour recently at Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon. It was one of those times when everything just worked out perfectly. Here are 10 photos that prove it!
Exploring Plaza Blanca
Back in March, we spent some time in Abiquiu, New Mexico and one afternoon went out to explore a nearby spot known as the White Place, or Plaza Blanca. It's famous for being the favorite local spot and frequent inspiration of famed artist Georgia O'Keeffe, and it's pretty magnificent. Today's post is a collection of 23 photos I captured while hiking around there one afternoon. It's almost a lunar landscape, and I think you will enjoy this. Have a look!
Driving Highway 1
I recently drove up a large part of Highway 1 in California, making stops in some of the iconic, wonderful, and always photogenic spots along the way. I started in San Simeon and made it through Big Sur and Carmel, ending in the Fort Bragg and Mendocino area. Here are 25 photos that illustrate the beauty I witnessed!
Not your typical Nashville photos
Today's post is a collection of random pics from my recent travels to Nashville. It's a beautiful city, but one day I focused on shooting the offbeat and overlooked stuff, instead of the traditionally beautiful spots there. I like what I came away with. Shooting things that are usually overlooked is a great exercise for expanding your creative vision. Have a look!
6 weeks without Facebook
I've been taking a break from Facebook, and it's been great. Here's what I am doing instead, and here's what I have learned.
San Francisco in blue and gold
I'm a big fan of the city of San Francisco, and always enjoy my visits to the City by the Bay. I also love the Ferry Building there, and that's the main subject of today's post. I caught a wonderful blue hour there one morning on my last visit, as well as some other cool shots from a sunset or two. Take a look at this collection of 12 pics and enjoy!
An unbelievable sunset in Bandon, Oregon
As photographers, we are ever hopeful and optimistic about the light. We hope and pray for good things to happen in the atmosphere, so we can capture it and share it. Usually it ends up being ok, but now and then you get a really amazing display of Earth's beauty. I was lucky enough to have that happen to me recently while in Bandon, Oregon. Here are 14 pics that show you just how awesome this sunset really was!
5 Things To Do Before Firing The Shutter
Here are 5 things I try and do every time I go shoot - well technically, before I go shoot. It's important to plan ahead so you avoid delays or errors when you are standing in front of something awesome. Plan ahead, be smart, and get the shot you want!
Visualizing Red River
Today's post is a visual tour of some beautiful spots in Red River, NM. It's a small town but I am rather fond of it. Have a look and enjoy! I'll be back soon with more pics from my current trip in Oregon, and you won't want to miss those!
Sedona seduces
We spent a few days in lovely and enticing Sedona recently, and it was fabulous. I can see why people are drawn there. Even with temps soaring into the 100's, I was able to get out and shoot (without melting!) and even got some great skies while doing so. Have a look at these 14 pics and enjoy!
My 2015 summer plans
We are just starting a multi-week family summer vacation and it's awesome already! Read on to see where we've been so far and what we plan to do for the next few weeks (hint: lots of outdoor photography). I also included a few teaser iPhone images taken on the trip and a map of our travels. Fun!
A stunning sunset in Minneapolis
I caught some absolutely fabulous light on a trip to Minneapolis a while back. I shot above and below their Stone Arch Bridge and had a heck of a good time doing it. Check out this baker's dozen pics and enjoy!
iPhone fun in Nashville and OKC
Last week was a busy one for me, traveling to Nashville and OKC and firing quite a few shots along the way. Today's post is a summary of that trip, with all photos taken and processed on my iPhone. I haven't had time to process anything from my real camera yet, because I am on the road again. Pop on in and see what's cooking!
A mid-year update
I have been really busy with my photography and blogging this year, and am well on my way to achieving my goals (and in some cases I am way ahead!). Today's post is a summary of what all I have been doing. It's hard to tell just by stopping by and reading the blog every once in a while, so I thought I would summarize it all. I really did it so I could see how I was doing against my goals, but if it's interesting for you to read then great. If not, umm, sorry? :-)
A bit of this and that from San Francisco
I love San Francisco - it's really a beautiful city. I spent a week there recently, and was lucky enough to get out a few times with the camera (and the prime lens) and fire away. Here are 26 photos that give you a good idea of what I was looking at - and shooting at, of course. Enjoy the tour!
Golden hour on the Brooklyn Bridge
How awesome is the Brooklyn Bridge? Pretty awesome! Here's a collection of shots from a photo outing I had there one evening last year. It started around sunset and kept on going into blue hour. Hopefully I can return to NYC later this year and shoot it again - there's a lot of things to aim the camera at there! (Hey Jim, that's pretty obvious! LOL)
iPhone fun in San Francisco
I spent last week in San Francisco, and despite being really busy at work, I still got out and fired away quite a bit! I came home with around 1100 photos, which is a pretty good haul when my time is limited. I shot all over town, too, and hit some new spots. It was great. Today's post is a bit of a teaser though, as these are all iPhone pics from the trip, since I haven't had time to process anything yet. More on that later. For now, enjoy the beauty of the City by the Bay!
