The simple beauty of adobe
In the past, I did not care too much for adobe houses or other things with a southwestern flair. As you may have read in my previous posts, I am a big fan of architecture and my interests there lean more towards contemporary structures and Asian-influenced stuff with the occasional dream of having a lodge-style house with big river rocks around the fireplace. Who doesn't want one of those? Anyways, after being in New Mexico (specifically Santa Fe and Taos) it is hard not to appreciate the simple beauty of these things. They have clean lines inside and out, and as such they actually remind me of contemporary and Asian structures. Maybe not the same ballpark, but at least the same sport. This one sat on a hill just next to our hotel in Santa Fe, and I liked the contrast of the warm adobe tones with the deep blue of the sky.
