Luminar Neo Turns 3
I’ve been using Luminar since the very first iteration back in 2016 or so (I was a beta tester before version 1 launched). It’s morphed and grown a lot since then, with the current version being called Luminar Neo. Luminar Neo itself is now three years old and they are celebrating the anniversary with a huge sale. You can get all the details at the link below:

Now if you purchased Luminar Neo when it first came out, you will be well aware of all the additional features that have been added - and the list is long! In fact, it’s too long to list here. But there are some amazing features that I use a lot, and put together a video about, which is below.
Here’s a summary of what I consider some of the top, key features that have come out:
Relight AI - this gives you the ability to adjust light and temperature in a single tool, which comes in really handy. You can decide which parts of the photo are considered foreground vs background, and adjust accordingly. It’s super helpful!
HDR Batch Processing - if you’ve been following my work for any length of time, you know I love HDR (yes, still!). It’s a powerful technique that I use again and again. When they added HDR Merge to Luminar Neo, I was over the moon. But they have also added batch processing, allowing you to merge a bunch of different bracket sets into HDR photos with a few clicks. This is a time saver for those of you that use HDR.
Color Transfer - this innovative and unique feature lets you load a reference image and then “transfer” the colors from it to your target image. It’s a way to adapt a color look to a photo with a couple of clicks, and I love it. In fact, I put together a pack of color reference images which is available in my store.
Twilight Enhancer AI - another cool innovation that lets you apply a twilight look to your images with countless sliders to refine it and make it just right. I use this tool all the time, and it’s fantastic. Such a time saver too!
Water Enhancer AI - another massive time saver. I used to brush mask water so I could make adjustments to the light and color, but no more. This tool automatically masks it and with a few sliders you are done. Amazing!
Luminosity Masks - I make no secret about this being my favorite type of mask, and show it off in a lot of videos. When they added this to Luminar Neo, I immediately made it part of my daily editing workflow, because it is that powerful and useful.
Color Masks - another great masking addition, which lets you create a mask for a specific color or range of colors. You’d be surprised how useful this is for adjusting light, color and detail.
Object Select Masks - another super useful tool that makes my workflow faster and more accurate. Just point at something and it automatically creates a mask for it. You can then make simple light, color and/or detail adjustments to that object. I use this all the time, and it’s much quicker and more accurate than brush masking.
That is a lot of innovation, but wow are we getting some amazing tools. And I expect more exciting things are coming. Keep going Skylum, you’re doing great! Thank you for all of these great tools!
