Sedona seduces
We spent a few days in lovely and enticing Sedona recently, and it was fabulous. I can see why people are drawn there. Even with temps soaring into the 100's, I was able to get out and shoot (without melting!) and even got some great skies while doing so. Have a look at these 14 pics and enjoy!
My 2015 summer plans
We are just starting a multi-week family summer vacation and it's awesome already! Read on to see where we've been so far and what we plan to do for the next few weeks (hint: lots of outdoor photography). I also included a few teaser iPhone images taken on the trip and a map of our travels. Fun!
A stunning sunset in Minneapolis
I caught some absolutely fabulous light on a trip to Minneapolis a while back. I shot above and below their Stone Arch Bridge and had a heck of a good time doing it. Check out this baker's dozen pics and enjoy!
iPhone fun in Nashville and OKC
Last week was a busy one for me, traveling to Nashville and OKC and firing quite a few shots along the way. Today's post is a summary of that trip, with all photos taken and processed on my iPhone. I haven't had time to process anything from my real camera yet, because I am on the road again. Pop on in and see what's cooking!
A mid-year update
I have been really busy with my photography and blogging this year, and am well on my way to achieving my goals (and in some cases I am way ahead!). Today's post is a summary of what all I have been doing. It's hard to tell just by stopping by and reading the blog every once in a while, so I thought I would summarize it all. I really did it so I could see how I was doing against my goals, but if it's interesting for you to read then great. If not, umm, sorry? :-)
A bit of this and that from San Francisco
I love San Francisco - it's really a beautiful city. I spent a week there recently, and was lucky enough to get out a few times with the camera (and the prime lens) and fire away. Here are 26 photos that give you a good idea of what I was looking at - and shooting at, of course. Enjoy the tour!
Golden hour on the Brooklyn Bridge
How awesome is the Brooklyn Bridge? Pretty awesome! Here's a collection of shots from a photo outing I had there one evening last year. It started around sunset and kept on going into blue hour. Hopefully I can return to NYC later this year and shoot it again - there's a lot of things to aim the camera at there! (Hey Jim, that's pretty obvious! LOL)
iPhone fun in San Francisco
I spent last week in San Francisco, and despite being really busy at work, I still got out and fired away quite a bit! I came home with around 1100 photos, which is a pretty good haul when my time is limited. I shot all over town, too, and hit some new spots. It was great. Today's post is a bit of a teaser though, as these are all iPhone pics from the trip, since I haven't had time to process anything yet. More on that later. For now, enjoy the beauty of the City by the Bay!
Highlights from a week in Paris
Have you ever heard that Paris is beautiful? No? I didn't think so. :-) I spent a week there last Fall, and captured so many photos that I still have plenty to process. But although I shared these in some spots, I never got around to writing up this summary post about the trip and sharing the photographic highlights - until now! So dive in and enjoy these 23 photos from the fabulously beautiful City of Light!
Experiencing a different side of Las Vegas
Good old Las Vegas - so much to shoot there, and such an interesting place! Today's post is a collection of pics from Fremont Street, which is in old Vegas. It's a cab ride away from The Strip, and a much different experience. Enjoy!
All the rain in Austin
I've got waterfalls for you today! As you have probably heard on the news (even nationally), Austin has been hit with a serious amount of rain and flooding lately. While there have been tragic events due to the flooding, the silver lining is that we are getting our lakes filled back up and our creeks have water in them - both of which are badly needed. Today I share a collection of pics from a recent outing here in Austin, when I went out to shoot some waterfalls!
Sunset in Atlanta
I love sunset, and when you get a stellar one it's even more fun! I caught this one way back in 2012, but never got around to processing or sharing any of the pics until now. Read my thoughts on being so far behind, why I am ok with it, and see some pretty pics too!
A big bunch of Dublin stuff!
There is just so much to shoot in Dublin, and so much to love about it. I really enjoy my visits there, and always come home happy (and with a few memory cards that are bursting at the seams!). Today I share 22 photos from my most recent trip to Dublin. Lots of street scenes and pubs in this one, so beware...you might want to hop on a plane after this!
Farewell Aperture, Hello Lightroom!
Well, I finally have left Aperture behind and moved over to Lightroom. It was a challenging process in several ways, but I am on the other side of it now and Lightroom is great! Click on in to read about all the fun I had making the switch! (That was a joke - it wasn't really very fun at all. But it's behind me now, YAY!)
Shooting sunset on Burnet Road
I love signs and graffiti - and sunset, 'natch! - and caught all 3 on a recent outing here in Austin. It's great to travel and shoot in various spots around the world, but it's also great to shoot interesting things near home. It's easier to get there, too LOL!
Glasgow graffiti
Do you enjoy good graffiti as much as I do? Well then you will like what I have for you today! I went out in search of interesting graffiti on my recent trip to Glasgow, and came back with some cool stuff - have a look!
A stroll along the Champs Elysees
There is a LOT to see on the Champs Elysees in Paris. It's a big, crowded street that famous for shopping, but in my opinion you can also make some great photographs in places like that - you just have to look a little harder! Here are 14 photos as proof!
The Eiffel Tower from Trocadero
There is just so much awesomeness in Paris - starting with that iconic symbol of the city, the Eiffel Tower. On my last trip there, I shot it a LOT, starting with today's photos which are from The Trocadero. It's across the River Seine from the Eiffel Tower and as you can clearly see, offers up a pretty incredible view! Have a look and enjoy!
A primal morning in Copenhagen
On a recent morning in lovely Copenhagen, I headed out with just one lens (my 15mm f1.7 prime) and just one purpose - to capture some beautiful photos of this city that I just love to visit. Did I accomplish my goals that morning? Was my self-imposed limitation of just one lens "good enough"? Well, here are 23 photos that show you what I came back with. Click on in and you be the judge!
Morning at Nyhavn
On my recent trip to Copenhagen, I got up early one morning to head over to Nyhavn, their historic harbor front entertainment area. It's quite beautiful, and I fired a lot of photos. I made a concerted effort to shoot it differently than I have in previous trips, and I think I succeeded. Take a look at these 12 photos and let me know what you think!
