Highlights from 2015
It's fun to look back on the year that just ended, and today's post is exactly that - a look back. 2015 was a year of photography, travel, and change - and I hope I did it justice in this summary. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy the review - there's a LOT here! Thanks for visiting my blog this year!
Catching a stunning sunset at The Oasis
Do you have a particular spot that you just NEVER feel like you get the right opportunity to photograph, yet everyone else DOES? I had one just like that until recently. It has eluded me for YEARS, but finally I was able to capture a stunning sunset at The Oasis. Read on my friends!
Sunrise on Barton Springs Road
Barton Springs Road in Austin is a little gem, with a few interesting little spots to photograph. Oh yeah, and right around the corner is our natural spring pool, too - another jewel in the crown, so to speak. Check out these recent sunrise photos and enjoy!
Falkirk Wheel
Falkirk, Scotland is a small town not too far from Glasgow, and well worth a trip over for exploring. The Falkirk Wheel is a boat lift technically, but really it's an engineering marvel and a very interesting thing to go see and photograph. Check it out!
Sunset at the Palace of Fine Arts
I return again to San Francisco in today's post - a gorgeous sunset at a gorgeous location, the Palace of Fine Arts. Oh, and I walked nearly 18 miles that day. Whew! Read on and enjoy the pics my friends!
A walk through Haight Ashbury
Ah, San Francisco - full of beauty and interestingness and some weirdness, too. Yep, the City by the Bay has a few spots that are a little different, and today I transport you to one of them. This is Haight Ashbury, which was at the center of the hippie counter-culture revolution way back in the 1960's. A lot has changed since then, but you can still feel the vibe in this most interesting district in San Francisco. Enjoy!
The fire dancers of Tivoli Gardens
Well, here's something you don't see everyday. It's a blog post from me with photos of people in it. Yep, real, live humans. Of course, they were swinging fire torches around and breathing fire into the night like a dragon, so I launched into full "extreme portrait" mode and fired away! It was awesome, too!
The beauty of Glasgow
Today on the blog I whisk you away to that lovely Scottish city, Glasgow. Some think it's "not all that", but I disagree. Here's a photo collection showing you some of the beauty in Glasgow!
Catching a train in Copenhagen
Once again, I spent some time in a train station - this time it was Copenhagen's Central Station. It's a beautiful spot, and I learned that no matter how many times you have been somewhere, you can always find a new way to look at things. Read on!
Central Park colors
I found some incredible color in Central Park on my recent trip to New York - my timing was excellent. And I covered about 20 miles on foot while photographing it - isn't it crazy how much walking you can do in that city?
Firing away in downtown Austin
I've been getting in a LOT of shots of Austin lately, for a couple of reasons. Today I share some of my most recent Austin pics and hint at what I am working on!
Sunrise in Boston
Boston is a beautiful town, and is great to photograph during sunrise. You can wander around all the best spots and have them to yourself, which makes them even more enjoyable in my book! Here is a collection of shots from a recent trip to that fair city.
A visit to Frederiksborg Castle
How about a virtual trip to a fairy-tale castle in Denmark today? Sound good? Ok, let's go! Here is a collection of pics I took at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerod, Denmark earlier this year. It's a beautiful place!
Fall in Central Park
Central Park in New York is pretty gorgeous at any time, but it really shines in the Fall when the leaves start changing colors. Read about my recent trip there, see 6 different photos, and listen to me musing about using my new Sony camera and a small, nimble prime lens. It's all good!
Avenue B Grocery
This is Avenue B Grocery, which is a really cool old grocery store tucked away on a quiet street in Austin. It's like walking back into the 1950's or something. Here are 5 pics I caught at sunrise one morning last Fall.
Putting Sony to the test in Austin
Austin has so much to shoot, and I am back on the trail of capturing it! I am also out getting more familiar with my new Sony A7II and share some thoughts about it in today's post. Read on and enjoy!
A stunning Glasgow sunset
Back in April I spent a few days in lovely Glasgow, Scotland and caught a pretty stellar sunset one evening. Here are 5 pics that show you just how beautiful it was!
Quotas, epiphanies, and advice from Dad
Today's post is an essay about goal-setting and getting caught up in the goals for the sake of achieving them. I lost my creative direction earlier this year, but I have found it again and am back on track. Oh, and I had an epiphany this summer that set it all in motion. Read on and let me know your thoughts!
A hike to Dunnottar Castle
On my recent trip over to Europe for business, I found myself in Aberdeen Scotland and had a free day on my hands. What did I do? Went looking for a castle, that's what! And yes, I found one - it's a ruined medieval fortress on the coast - awesomeness!
Up early in Copenhagen
Today I share 5 HDR photos that I captured one fine morning in Copenhagen, Denmark. It's a beauty of a town and at sunrise it's even more photogenic than normal! Enjoy these shots of Nyhavn, the historic harbor front district in Copenhagen!
