Hanging with the dead in Questa, NM
I stumbled across a little church and a cemetery along an empty road in a deserted corner of New Mexico. So I stopped and took a few pics! That's what you would do, right?
A Visual Tour of Chateau De Chenonceau
This may qualify as my longest post ever, at least in terms of the number of photos that it contains. But, it was worth every minute it took to prepare it for you. Click through to enjoy a visual tour of that most beautiful French Chateau in the Loire Valley - Chateau de Chenonceau. Then pack your bags - you're likely to want to travel to France asap!
First look at The Sydney Opera House
Today's post is all about the Sydney Opera House - it's pretty awesome! I went over to Australia last week, and was able to capture quite a few shots of this iconic structure. It was #1 on my list of what to shoot, and I shot it - LOTs. So take a look at these 5 photos and enjoy the visual tour!
iPhone fun in Sydney Australia
Well hi there! I made a reasonably quick trip over to Sydney, Australia last week, and came home with a LOT of photos. But, today's post is a bit of a teaser - just iPhone shots for ya. I haven't had time to get my Olympus shots processed. So come back, ok? There's a lot more coming! But for now, enjoy these photos and this quick tour of my little adventures Down Under! G'day mate!
Sunset at Arch Cape
Sometimes I get lucky and catch an incredible sunset, and sometimes I don't. Either way, I am happy because I am pointing my camera at one, and that's a good thing. Today you get a group of photos taken during a couple of different sunsets in Arch Cape, OR earlier this year. It's just beautiful, so take a look, k?
Skulking about SoCo at dawn
SoCo (short for South Congress) is a funky little spot in downtown Austin, and I love to go shoot there. You never know what you might get, but I'm pretty sure you can count on it being interesting. Hop on in and have a look! It's 9 HDR photos from a recent sunrise shoot there.
It's not about the postcard shot
Today I share my thoughts on how I am changing as a photographer. I love great photos of the big things, but I am finding an equal (and sometimes greater) satisfaction from shooting the little things. Read on to get my thoughts on this and feel free to leave your feedback in the comments section!
Shooting the Taos Mountains
Ah, the mountains! Cool breezes, fresh air, and wicked cool clouds! I do love the mountains, and whenever I get a chance to visit and photograph them, I'm like a kid in a candy store. It's just what I love. Perhaps I should move?
More from the San Antonio Riverwalk
How about some more photos from San Antonio? You ok with that? Great! Let's dive in and check out the Riverwalk at sunrise. There are no tourists, and the water is like glass. All the lights are on, so you can get great reflections that really come to life. Oh and there are bridges! It's all quite beautiful, so click on in and enjoy!
First impressions of Topaz Impression
Today I share some shots I created in the new Topaz Impression - it's a new and exciting (and fun!) way to turn your photos into digital art! And note there is a special offer from Topaz Labs on this product until Sept 30, which is tomorrow!
The little things in Amsterdam
I am always carrying a list with me when I travel to any city, and the list contains all the big, important things I hope to photograph while I am there. And I think that is a good thing. But equally - if not more - important, is noticing, enjoying and photographing the little things that you see while out there. They add a lot to your experience and enjoyment of a city. So today, here's a few of the "little things" I enjoyed in Amsterdam!
After dark in Central Park
I just got back from NYC, and brought home a few images as well. It's a great town for that, though you can read my thoughts on NYC in this post. In short, I like it, but don't love it. However, I really enjoyed wandering in Central Park and firing off a bunch of photos! Check 'em out!
The incredible Chateau de Chambord
How about we step back into history today? Specifically, 16th century France - does that sound good? It does to me, so I hope you will come along for the ride. It's going to be fun, educational, colorful (of course!) and hopefully inspirational too! Vive le France! (or something like that)
The San Antonio Riverwalk
Have you ever visited San Antonio, TX? It's very beautiful, especially the Riverwalk area, and especially at sunrise when there are no tourists in the way. Have a look...I think you will enjoy these. Oh, and I toss out a 5 year old sunset photo too, since I had forgotten about it. No time like the present!
Painting Montmartre
Montmartre is a beautiful part of Paris, which is itself a very beautiful city. Today's photo tour of Montmartre is done in honor of the great painters who once roamed the streets here. I took a collection of photos and converted them to digital paintings!
One photo, a million possibilities
Today I share 1 photo that I have process 8 different ways - and I share some thoughts on breaking free of routines and experimenting to broaden your creativity.
Downtown Austin
A trio of shots from my hometown of Austin today...and a little commentary on the idea of variety.
Spoonbridge and cherry
I enjoy checking out sculpture gardens - they are often a great place for interesting photographs. My visit last week to Minneapolis confirmed it - this crazy (and large!) sculpture of a spoon with a cherry on it is awesome!
Wandering the streets of Dublin
Do you ever get out and shoot at sunrise? You should! Especially when in a touristy area of a city, sunrise is great to shoot because all the tourists are still asleep. It's quiet and awesome.
